The apostle Paul uses the analogy of marriage in Romans 7:1-6 as an illustration of how a person is freed from the law once they die. His analogy is as follows: Just as spouse is free to be joined to another person if their spouse dies, the believer is free to be joined to another (Jesus Christ) because God regards the believer “dead to the law.” Come and hear for yourself how God has freed us from the law in order that we would bear fruit by being joined to Jesus Christ.
