INTRODUCTION

1. THE CONSEQUENCE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
“It was the best of times; it was the worst of times…” Such is the context of the truth Jesus is telling the disciples John 16:5 - 7

2. THE CONVICTION OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
John 16:8 - 11
First, the Spirit will convict the world concerning sin.
Second, the Spirit will convict the world concerning righteousness.
Third, the Spirit will convict the world concerning judgment.

3. THE CONTROL OF THE HOLY SPIRIT - John 16:12 -15
Notice here the distinction between the way the Holy Spirit interacts with the world and the way he interacts with followers of Jesus.

CONCLUSION
As we become more like Jesus, as we love the way Jesus loved, the Spirit convicts the world so that it, too, might follow Jesus.
