A live stream hosted by #GregStafford weekdays and Saturdays starting between 6:30 and 7:30 AM PST. We meet for about 20-45 minutes to discuss biblical and other ancient texts which are grouped together for the discussion, as we progressively work our way through these ancient texts.
This show will be about #Genesis 1:14-19 from translations of both the Hebrew (H) and Greek (G) texts.
(H) 14 Then God began to say, "A light source must come into being in the firm expanse of the sky heavens in order to divide an interval between the day and the night." So light sources in the sky heavens came into being for signs and for fixed periods, and for days and years.
(G) 14 Then God said, "There must come to be sources of light in the firm expanse of the sky heavens for illumination of the earth, according to the division between the day and the night. They must be for signs and for fixed periods and for days and for years.
(H) 15 Then light sources came into being in the firm expanse of the sky heavens, in order to shine light upon the earth. So it came about just like that.
(G) 15 They must be for illumination in the firm expanse of the sky heavens, in order to shine upon the earth." So it came about just like that.
(H) 16 God began to make two primary light sources: The great light source to rule during the day and the lesser light source to rule the night, together with the stars.
(G) 16 Then God made the two main sources of light: The greater light source for the beginnings of "day" and the lesser light source for the beginnings of "night," and the stars.
(H) 17 Then God set these sources of light in the firm expanse of the sky heavens, for them to shine light upon the earth,
(G) 17 And God placed these sources of light in the firm expanse of the sky heavens, in order to shine light upon the earth,
(H) 18 and for them to rule during the day and during the night, and to divide an interval between the light and the darkness. God saw that all of this was a good thing.
(G) 18 and to begin the day and the night, and to divide between the light and the darkness. Then God saw that all of this was good.
(H) 19 Then there came to be a time for darkness and a time for light. This time for light was the fourth "day."
(G) 19 So there came to be a time for darkness and a time for light. This time of light was a fourth "day."
