A live stream hosted by #GregStafford weekdays and Saturdays starting between 6:30 and 7:30 AM PST. We meet for about 20-45 minutes to discuss biblical and other ancient texts which are grouped together for the discussion, as we progressively work our way through these ancient texts.

This show will be about #Genesis 1:32-35 (2:1-4) from translations of both the Hebrew (H) and Greek (G) texts:

(H) 32 [2:1] Now the sky heavens and the earth and all of their strong parts were completed.
(G) 32 [2:1]: So the sky heavens and the earth and everything in all of them were completed.

(H) 33 [2:2] During the seventh "day" God finished his work which he had made, and God stopped working during the seventh day because of all his work which he had made.
(G) 33 [2:2] During the sixth day God completed his works, works which he made. Then God rested during the seventh day. He rested from all of his works, works which he made.

(H) 34 [2:3] Then God began to bless the seventh day and he began to treat it as sacred because during that day God had stopped from all his work, which he had created in order to do something good.
(G) 34 [2:3] Then God blessed the seventh day and he treated it as something sacred, because during the seventh day God ceased from all of his works, works which he decreed [or, “which he began”] to make.

(H) 35 [2:4] These are the successive generations [or, "histories"] of the sky heavens and the earth when they were created, during the time when Jaho(h)-ah God made land and sky heavens.
(G) 35 [2:4] This is the record of generations of sky heavens and land, when the time came that [Jaho(h)-ah] God made the sky heavens and the earth.

[Note on (H) 1:35 (2:4), "Jaho(h)-ah": This is the first use of the divine name in its four-letter form in Genesis.]

[Note on new verse listing from (H) and (G) 1:32-35: This verse order replaces the more traditional verse listing of 2:1-2:4. To ease the new verse listing into more regular use, I will start Genesis Chapter 2 with verse 5 of the more common verse listing. This will also allow me to end Chapter 2 as do other translations, and then continue with Chapter 3, and the rest of Genesis. But the first record of the creation in Genesis ends with verse 35(2:4), and so this should also conclude the first Chapter to eliminate confusion which can occur with the more traditional verse order of the two separate creation histories given in Genesis, namely, that of the “sky heavens and the earth” and that of “man/womankind.” A more detailed explanation of this verse order and account grouping will be provided in planned, future editions of this note in TGMRT.]
