GERRY PRIANO - Study of the Minor Prophets: Amos 2:4-16 & Amos 3
As we come to the fourth verse in this second chapter of the Bible Book of Amos, his declaration of God's judgement moves from the six Gentile nations surrounding them, first to Judah, and then to Israel, the northern kingdom, to whom Amos had been sent. Their sins are laid out, and their special place in relationship with God is shown in His choosing them and His care for them. BUT, responsibility flows from relationship!! In the third chapter, God's word turns "against the ENTIRE family which He brought up from the land of Egypt." Here we notice in the first of three messages Amos gives, four divine calls, and that even in judgement, there is mercy.
