If then God gave the same gift to them as he gave to us when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could stand in God's way?” When they heard these things they fell silent. And they glorified God, saying, “Then to the Gentiles also God has granted repentance that leads to life.” — Acts 11:17-18

So remember yesterday we talked about this group called "The Circumcized Group." Which is something I would never name your next cover band or softball team. And yet, I know someone is going to send a shirt with this team name on it!

But basically, between verses 4 and 16, Peter recounts the whole story. And then he drops the mic with this statement — "Who was I that I could stand in God's way!" I love this quote. Here is why. He has been obedient to God, and in the act of obedience, God shows up to a group of Gentiles and does only what God can do. Therefore he presents his position on the matter, which is really not his position. It's God's position. But others confuse it as his position.

I think we are always better served in every situation to side with God. I have found I have fewer problems that I have to deal with when I am just blatantly obedient to what God wants me to do. And here is the bonus! When I just do what God wants me to do, then others who argue with how I have done something will have to argue with God because it's no longer really a criticism or argument with me. It's a criticism and an argument with God. And in a battle with God, there is always a loser. And I promise the loser is not God.

And so, this "Circumcized Group" probably needed to start looking for a new team name because Peter cut them a little short in this argument.
