Treasures gained by wickedness do not profit, but righteousness delivers from death. The Lord does not let the righteous go hungry, but he thwarts the craving of the wicked. A slack hand causes poverty, but the hand of the diligent makes rich. — Proverbs 10:2-4

I think every man has this innate desire to pursue greatness. But at times, this desire can be self-consuming, and we'll end up pursuing greatness the wrong way. And in light of this, Solomon gives some great advice. He infers that we will crave wealth at some point because we don't have it. And because these momentary cravings are so intense, we may compromise godly values to get it. If we do, it will have a less than desirable end. But if we pursue wealth with an eye for eternal riches, we will care less about the need for temporary gains. Because a man with an eye for infinite riches knows that God is endlessly rich and because he loves us, he will care for all of our financial needs. But his provision for our temporal needs in no way suggests we should be lazy. Instead, godly men are diligent, not lazy.

So fellas do this today. Determine an area of your life where you need to be more diligent. Thoughtfully consider what area that might be. And rather than trying to take a shortcut, be diligent. Because guess what? A diligent man is rich in every way.
