Given an Occupation!
Genesis 46:28-34
Joseph first gives direction to Judah how to get to the land of Goshen. Then Joseph travel to his father by chariot and reunites with him in deep love (Gen 46:28-29). But then he prepares his family for when they will meet Pharaoh and instructs them on what to say. He states, that when you meet and Pharaoh ask, what is your occupation (Gen 46:33)? Tell him that you are shepherds (Gen 46:32). Even though shepherding was an abomination to the people of Egypt (Gen 46:34), Pharaoh was going to give them the best land and for some of them he would make the chief herdsman over his livestock (Gen 47:6). Disciple Principle: Jesus Christ is our chief shepherd, and He is calling us to a land of blessing, and we should never be ashamed of what our occupation is as Christ disciples. Remember: Christ was not ashamed to be known as the shepherd of His sheep (John 10:11-14; Heb 13:20; 1 Pet 5:4) and that He is calling us to come to His land and kingdom (Rev 22:17).
