GOD CANNOT OVERLOOK SIN, Ezekiel 3:18-21; 33:7-16; Matthew 22:10-14; Galatians 6:7; Romans 3:10,23; Isaiah 53:6; Job 34:12; 2 Corinthians 5:10; Revelation 20:12-13, Sunday, June 12, 2022
Many people today believe they are saved. They presume great assurance, and that they are on their way to Heaven when in reality, they are not. There are some who claim great assurance who ought not to have it--those whose lives do not testify as a proof.
This class is represented by the man at the wedding feast who did not have on the required wedding garment.
So those servants went out into the highways and gathered together all whom they found, both bad and good. And the wedding hall was filled with guests. But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw a man there who did not have on a wedding garment. So he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you come in here without a wedding garment?’ And he was speechless. Then the king said to the servants, ‘Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’ “For many are called, but few are chosen.” Amen! (Matthew 22:10-14)
You may very often see dead fish floating with the stream, but you will never see a dead fish swimming against it. That is your false believer; a presumed Christian or hypocrite. Christian profession is just floating down the stream, but CONFESSION of sin or refusing to engage in any sin is swimming against it, no matter how strong the tide.
The sanctified person and the unsanctified look at Heaven very differently. The unsanctified person simply chooses Heaven in preference to hell. The worldly person thinks that if he or she must go to either one, he or she would rather choose Heaven. The unregenerate person likes Heaven better than hell, but he or she loves this world and sin the best of all. However, when death stares the sinner in the face, then the presumed Christian wants to get to Heaven. Does that remind you of someone you know?
The true believer who is filled with the Holy Spirit prizes Heaven above everything else, and is always willing to give up the world and the sin in it.
Salvation is indeed free, but GOD cannot give it to us apart from our acceptance of Christ by faith. Salvation being free is not because it is cheap. To provide it, GOD had to give His SON to die for our sins. It is free because it is paid for by the Precious Blood and the Atoning Work of Christ on Calvary’s tree. Therefore, there is nothing for us to do to merit
Salvation; that would be impossible for us. We receive it as a gift, but on the condition of faith, which implies genuine repentance of sin and a willingness to submit our lives to Christ in the obedience of faith. That is why GOD calls it GRACE – GOD’s Redemption At Christ’s Expense.
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of GOD. Amen! (Romans 3:23)
As it is written, there is none righteous, no, not one. Amen! (Romans 3:10)
All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all. Amen! (Isaiah 53:6)
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. Amen! (2 Corinthians 5:10)
And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. Amen! (Revelation 20:12-13)
