Sermon: God Gives Rest To The Weary
Text: Ruth 3:1-18

1. Proposition: God Gives Rest to the Weary.

2. Naomi and Ruth Seek Rest: [Ruth 3:1-5]

They are not passively waiting.


3. Main Point 1: Since God gives rest to the weary, we can seek the rest found in Him.
Ref. Matthew 7:7-10

Application: Come to God seeking rest and trust that he has provided it in Jesus.


4. Ruth’s Bold Request: [Ruth 3:6-9]

“Take me under your wing, for you are a family redeemer.” She is boldly

asking for marriage.

Ref. Ezekiel 16:8

5. Main Point 2: Since God gives rest to the weary, we can make bold requests of Him.
Ref. Hebrews 4:16

We will receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

Application: Ask God boldly to work in you and

through you.

6. Boaz’s Commitment: [Ruth 3:10-18]

“As God lives, I will”


Naomi says “He won’t rest unless he resolves this today.”


7. Main Point 3: Since God gives rest to the weary, we can trust

Him and experience true rest.

Application: Stop trying to prove you are worthy of being a

son or daughter of God. Instead, rest in the fact that you are a

beloved son or daughter of God.
