So Ananias departed and entered the house. And laying his hands on him he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus who appeared to you on the road by which you came has sent me so that you may regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” And immediately something like scales fell from his eyes, and he regained his sight. Then he rose and was baptized; and taking food, he was strengthened. — Acts 9:17-19

So this moment is interesting. Because I hope we all know that God could have healed Saul without the help of Ananias. In fact, Ananias is not healing Saul. God is healing Saul. And I believe God is up to something big here. He is bringing two opposing men together to heal something more important than just Saul's sight. He is healing the tension between two opposing groups and bringing them together under a single vision. And by bringing them together, God is showing both men some new things. First, God is revealing that he has a plan and that his plan is far more significant than their plans. Second, God is revealing to both men a divine healing that goes far beyond physical healing. Third, God is revealing to both men how we get to participate in his grace and how essential it is to extend it to others.

I don't know about you, but as the division grows in our country and world, I believe we will see a lot more situations like this one. We might even have the opportunity to participate in God's big plan and see his divine healing by being a conduit of God's grace to others. Setting aside the miracle of physical sight at this moment, we can participate in situations like this all the time. There might even be someone right now that you oppose who may desperately need God's grace. And you might be that person's only hope of knowing God's grace. So what will you do? Will you live in fear of sharing Christ and his healing with that person. Or will take a chance and perhaps see a miracle greater than any physical healing—the miracle of the redemption of a man's soul from eternal damnation.
