SERMON NOTES

Rom 2:11 ESV For God Shows No Partiality.

Old Testament -- 1. Sins requiring capital punishment
2. Sins requiring different offerings
3. Sins where you are cut off from the people
Numbers 15:22 Unintentional Sin = Goat, Intentional Sin Cut off or death

JUDGED FOR EACH SIN
(5) But because of your hard and impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath

JUDGED FOR EACH SIN BASED ON KNOWLEDGE-
(12) For all who have sinned without the law will also perish without the law, and all who have sinned under the law will be judged by the law.

WHAT HE IS NOT SAYING
1. -Ignorant people get a pass --
2. -Gentiles keep the law and Jews don't

WHAT HE IS SAYING
1. Gentiles will perish because they have sinned
Misinterpret (if you haven't heard you won't be accountable?
Total Depravity vs. Radical -There is no totally corrupt person
2. Judgment & punishment will be based on knowledge
3. Judgment & punishment will be fair -- Not like here
Wicked prosper & righteous are persecuted & treated un-fair
4. We have a conscience, Why? Deep down we know there is a judge Conscience -- Law on Heart -- Image of God
5. Jews will be judged more harshly -- knowledge
Teachers and preachers judged more harshly
Jas 3:1 ESV Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness.

Role of Israel:

Given the Law of God, Torah, Given the prophesies of God
God's chosen people, Light unto the world
Through them the savior

Christ took on & completed
Adam Fell, Israel continued the fall
Christ steeped in and fulfilled the law
Punished in the flesh, Punished in death
Punished with the sin of the world

Now Christ's Church
Both Jew and Gentile
Not based on birth but election
Rom 9:6-8 ESV But it is not as though the word of God has failed. For not all who are descended from Israel belong to Israel, (7) and not all are children of Abraham because they are his offspring, but "Through Isaac shall your offspring be named." (8) This means that it is not the children of the flesh who are the children of God, but the children of the promise are counted as offspring.
