Bill Johnson teaches on the absolute importance of community. Community is one of the ways God chooses to reveal Himself. Jesus promised that wherever 2 or 3 are gathered that He is in our midst and that others would know we are His followers by our love for one another. Hebrews 13 teaches that God is pleased with certain sacrifices, one of which is the sacrifice of fellowship. Despite the challenge of being in unity with those we don’t agree with, we must remember that as the Body of Christ we are part of one another and that we need each other. It is only in coming together in unity and love that we can best represent the fullness of Christ. God designed for us to find healing and life within community. Being around others can sometimes be the last place we want to be, but often it is the very place we need to be to reconnect with God’s Presence and His heart for humanity.
