We've mastered 'come as you are' in churches, but are we forgetting transformation? Discover the full Gospel message about embracing change and leading away from sin, not affirming lifestyles of it. Let's focus on God, not offending people.
"Listen, at least in the church in America, we've been real good at preaching the first part of the Gospel, which says, "Come as you are." "You're welcome here. Come, come as you are." But we can't preach that at the expense of forgetting the second part of the Gospel. Yes, come as you are, but don't stay as you are.
Come as you are, but come to Jesus and be changed, come to Jesus and be transformed, come to Jesus and be born again, because our job as the Church is to lead people to Jesus and help lead them away from sin. Our job is not to embrace or to affirm lifestyles of sin. But unfortunately, over the last few decades, the Church, at least in America, has not done her job.
We've preached tolerance but not repentance, because we've been more concerned with offending people than offending God."
