Paul told the church in Colossae, “When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ” (Colossians 2:13–15 (NIV). To be “made alive in Christ” is to come back from the dead—our old, carnal nature—so that we no longer adopt ideas from our culture, like thinking our biological sex is confusing. But when we were dead in sins, we lived in disobedience to God, with no respect for His Word’s truth or sensitivity to His Spirit. We just operated from cultural instincts driven by evil. But when you’re awakened and alive in Christ, you gain a Kingdom awareness and sensitivity to God’s Holy Spirit, who reveals God’s truth and protects you from deception. Being alive in Christ enables you to choose Jesus as Lord and live under His authority, power, liberty, and freedom. No human power on earth can offer this kind of abundant life!
