This life on earth is filled with challenges, and for most of us this year especially. 2020 has been a year that has clearly demonstrated how fragile this world is. Every single human life on earth, in some way or another has been impacted by the instability of the political, financial, social, and physical health of this world. It truly is remarkable how quick this world can be turned upside-down. It is in these times we must elevate our focus and draw closer to Lord. Drawing closer to God is difficult to do when our hearts are focused on the calamities of this world. It is in these times we should be reminded that God and His Kingdom is the only everlasting stability in existence. It is in His Kingdom we are sustained, encouraged, comforted, strengthened, and blessed. However, it is difficult to see God’s sustaining grace in our lives when we busy ourselves with the internal focus of our woes. When the dilemmas of life become our focus, it usually leads to an ungrateful heart. In moments like these is when we lose sight (spiritually), then our ungratefulness turns to foolish thinking, which eventually turns to rebellion. In fact, when you consider the condition of the world as a whole, it’s clear that the foolishness of humanity has brought about the calamity we are now facing. However, we should not be focused on this life, we must focus on the life to come. Those who focus on the life to come, which is everlasting, are those who recognize what true stability is along with what is necessary to remain on this true foundation. We must stand on HIS Word! Psalm 107:17-22 Some became fools through their rebellious ways and suffered affliction because of their iniquities. 18 They loathed all food and drew near the gates of death. 19 Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. 20 He sent out his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave. 21 Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind. 22 Let them sacrifice thank offerings and tell of his works with songs of joy. Verse 19 makes it clear what we are to do to receive God’s promise “Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress.” All we need to do is “Cry out to the Lord”. His promise is clear in verse 20 “He sent out his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave.” In God’s love, He will rescue us time and time again, all we need to do is cry out, and He will rescue us. Praise God! Knowing this to be His heart, whether in a dilemma or after being rescued, we must always have a heart of thankfulness because His promises are indeed “YES” and “AMEN”! Psalm 107:21-22 Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind. Let them sacrifice thank offerings and tell of his works with songs of joy. AMEN!
