Jesus is a bit evasive when answering a question about whether he is the Messiah, saying that his works "testify" about him and talking about his relationship to God and his followers. It seems the term "Messiah" is problematic, what with all the preconceived notions of what that means. A similar thing can be said about the term "Christian." Perhaps we should eschew the label and focus more on our relationship with the Shepherd, on following the path the Good Shepherd shows us.
