Israel royally messed up! They exchanged the infinite living God for a finite lifeless idol. Moses was greatly distressed, but he did not condemn the people in his heart. Instead, he interceded for them. He offered up his own life in exchange for the salvation of these idolatrous people. God did not send His One and Only Son into the world to condemn it. He sent Jesus to save it. What amazing love the Father has for us! Jesus shared the heart of the Father, and willing offered Himself as payment for our sin. Moses reflected the heart of Christ.
