Daniel answered and said:

Blessed be the name of God forever and ever,
to whom belong wisdom and might.

He changes times and seasons;
he removes kings and sets up kings;
he gives wisdom to the wise
and knowledge to those who have understanding;

he reveals deep and hidden things;
he knows what is in the darkness,
and the light dwells with him.

To you, O God of my fathers,
I give thanks and praise,
for you have given me wisdom and might,
and have now made known to me what we asked of you,
for you have made known to us the king's matter.”

— Daniel 2:20-23

This praise of Daniel reminds us of some things about God. God has all wisdom. God has all power. And God has all authority over history, time, kings, and even what they think. And while we may read quickly past this section, we shouldn't. We need to slow down and read this section because we need this reminder. We especially need it as we take a step of faith like Daniel did because anxiety is sure to follow, and during these moments, we need to cling to God's wisdom, power, and authority.

Even in our present time, I think it slips our minds that God has wisdom, power, and authority over this planet. We see and hear the things happening in the world, and they cause natural anxiety. But they can lead us to believe that this world and its future are out of control. And yes, our enemy Satan is wreaking havoc in this world. But as believers, we cannot allow his chaos to alter our faith in God, who still has all wisdom, power, and authority.

Guys, maybe today is a day for you to let God reset the focus of your mind. To recenter your mind on a God still in control in a world that will always be of control. Turn off the distractions, shut out the noise, and spend some time praising the God who's got this.

ASK THIS:  Where does it feel like life or your life is out of control.

DO THIS: Recenter on Him.

PRAY THIS: God, make your wisdom, power, and authority known to me again. Ready me for another step of faith today.
