Unit 2 – Hopeful Faith

What’s involved in new life for the believer?
1) Possibility of New Life (Ezek. 37:1-3,11)
a. Key Doctrine: Salvation involves the redemption of the whole man.
i. Redemption – the act of procuring deliverance, such as from debt or prison.
b. [13] But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
[14] For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. ~ I Thess. 4:13-14
c. “very many” - Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: ~ Matt. 7:13
d. Symbolically, these bones represented the spiritual deadness of the people.
e. And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; ~ Colossians 2:13
2) Process of New Life (Ezek. 37:12-14)
a. Process – both an event and an ongoing work of God.
i. Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: ~ Phil 1:6
b. And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; ~ Eph. 2:1
c. Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. ~ John 6:29
d. vs. 13 --- As Jesus forgives us, restores us, and gives us new life, we come to know Him in a personal way.
e. vs. 14 --- In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, ~ Eph. 1:13
3) Portrait of New Life (Ezek. 37:23-28) --- Results of Relationship
a. Remembering without ceasing your (1) work of faith, and (2) labour of love, and (3) patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father;
For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye (1) turned to God from idols to (2) serve the living and true God; And to (3) wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come. ~ I Thess. 1:3,9-10
b. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, ~ II Cor. 6:17
c. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. ~ I John 3:3
