Prophecy by the Holy Spirit
(1 Corinthians 12:10-11)
The Holy Spirit
is a prophet.
God
spoke to the prophets through angels (Heb 2:2)
and spoke to His prophesying servants through the Holy Spirit (2 Pet 1:20-21).
Jesus
came to fulfill the word of prophecy (Jn 19:36).
In the past, prophets were inspired by angels to prophesy
and these were mainly about Jesus Christ (Jn 5:39).
Prophets are inspired by the Holy Spirit to prophesy
and these are about the Church (Rev 2:7).
Prophecies given by angels belonged under the Law (Gal 3:19)
and prophecies given by the Holy Spirit are evangelical (Jn 16:13).
Prophecy is not divination.
Prophecy is God’s revelation of the things to come.
It is His determined proclamation (Jn 16:13).
Divination is when one follows his own spirit and tell others their fortune.
This is superstition (Eze13:1-7).
Prophecy is a universal and unchangeable principle (Num23:19).
It is “God’s will” (Eph 1:9-10)
and the eternal blueprint (Eph 1:4-5).
The Church must know prophecies (1 Cor 14:4)
and hear what the Holy Spirit speaks to the Church.
○ Try especially
to prophecy by the Holy Spirit.
○ Prophecy edifies the Church.
The Church must walk by prophecies.
○ Prophecy is great among the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
Those who prophesy must be ever humbler
and speak truthfully.
※What was determined in heaven before eternity
was revealed to the world through Jesus.
God works on what was revealed through Jesus by the Holy Spirit.
