The Promised Holy Spirit
(Acts 1:1-5)

The Holy Spirit
is the Spirit given by God.
When Jesus came into the world,
He was begotten by the Holy Spirit (Matt 1:21).
The Lord’s ministry was also done by the Holy Spirit (Matt 3:16).
God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and power.
All of Jesus’ ministry and work was done through the Holy Spirit (Matt 12:28).
What two things must we clearly know?
Before the Advocate came, the Holy Spirit’s work
was done through His fullness (Lk 1:15, 1:41, 1:67),
but His title was omitted.
(This work was external and outward) (Acts 2:17)
However - after the Lord left us, He sent the Holy Spirit (Jn 16:7).
He is the Advocate who comes inside the hearts (or souls) of those who believe.
From now on (Jn 14:16-17, 26, 15:26, 16:7, 13, Acts 1:8),
the Advocate - the Holy Spirit - uses a personal title.
Who is the promised Holy Spirit?
The promised Holy Spirit is He who dwells inside us.
Although the Holy Spirit’s fullness is the same,
the presence or absence of the Holy Spirit inside the spirit is clear.
There can be more fullness of the Holy Spirit (Eph 5:18),
or it can be extinguished (Ps 51:11, 1 Thes 5:9).
However,
the promised Holy Spirit will dwell with us forever (Jn 14:16).
○ If the Holy Spirit dwells inside you,
you will begin to speak in other tongues (Acts 2:1-4).
○ If the Holy Spirit dwells inside you,
you will become a witness to Jesus (Acts 1:8).
○ If the Holy Spirit dwells inside you,
He will dwell with you forever (John 14:16).
※ Let us be filled with the Holy Spirit.
But let us receive the promised Holy Spirit first.
He is the Advocate who dwells inside us.
