From the rearview mirror to the windshield to the sunroof
Do you see the progression?
My entire life I always thought and believed, even talked a lot about it, living life each day looking forward. Lately though, through a season of trials, tests and tribulation God revealed to me a new dimension and perspective on where and whom to keep my eyes at.
But before I dig deep on this one let me just mention what I heard from a pastor:
Look back and choose to remember the good.
That's the rearview mirror.
Look forward and choose to focus on hope.
That's the windshield.
Look up and choose to praise.
That's the sunroof.
That's how we should see life as a Christian!
In another words, lead your feelings don't follow them.
In Hebrews chapter 12 verse 2 we read:fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith.
In Luke 9:16
Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, He gave thanks ....
Whenever you are facing difficult times in your life don't put your head down. There is nothing there for you, instead choose to look up. There is where your help comes from.
Psalm 139
You have searched me, Lord, and you know me.
You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar.
You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways.
Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely.
You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.
Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?
If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea,
even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.
If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,”
even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
Isn't it great and comforting to acknowledge that our God knows us so well and He is with us at all times?
James 4:8
Come near to God and He will come near to you.
This means that as we get closer to God it gives us the impression that God is moving towards us. Make no mistake about though, God doesn't keep moving back-and-forth. He is always at the same place, we are the ones that either choose to walk away from Him or get closer to Him.
I pray that today and every day you always walk towards God so you can see Him bigger and bigger.
May God richly bless you.
