We’ve lived far too long on the sacrifices of our predecessors, who led harder lives, did more difficult things, and made greater sacrifices. We’ve done everything in our power to protect ourselves and others from difficulty, stress, or hard work. And we’ve robbed them of knowing that much of our success has been birthed by the labor pains of those who came before us—comfortable homes with kitchens and bathrooms larger than many apartments around the world, access to global communication tools once reserved for national leaders, and the list goes on. Yet, with all we have, a good character really isn’t required anymore. We even make blatantly immoral, wicked, evil, self-absorbed, and destructive people into heroes. Folks, we have lost our moral compass, and the truth is, the Church is the front line in determining our future. It is our choices regarding God and our obedience to Him that will determine the kind of future that we will have. We need to have the courage and make the effort necessary to own our faith in new ways.
