Philippians 2:3
"Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves."
Philippians 2: 5-8
"Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death - even death on a cross!"

There is so much to learn about being a servant in today's society. I mean, this is America! We were born out of retaliation and fighting for our opinion. I'm being facetious, but you get my point...hopefully. Philippians 2 calls us to think of ourselves less highly than we ought to (also in Romans 12:3). It calls us to follow in the steps of Jesus as He lived the life of a servant.

I've learned that my opinion doesn't matter nearly as much as I think it does. I need to think of myself with a lower view (not too low, obviously), so that I can start living like Jesus is calling all of us to live.
