This Sunday the sermon is from 1 Kings 17:17-24 – “The God Who Raises the Dead” “And the Lord listened to the voice of Elijah …” – 1 Kings 17:22

Please read 1 Kings 17, verses 8 thru 24. God’s powerful prophet cares for a poor widow and her son. He miraculously produces flour in her jar and oil in her jug. And, he raises her son from the dead. What was Elijah’s secret? What was the source of his power? He prayed and the Lord listened to his voice. James encourages us to pray and he cites the example of Elijah. Elijah was human. We are human. If the Lord listened to Elijah. He will listen to us (James 5:16-18).
