A man with a skin disease approaches Jesus in search of healing. The Old Testament Law that forbids touching a person with such a skin disease lest you become “unclean” yourself. Jesus, however, doesn’t seem too concerned about it. He reaches out, touches the man, and cleanses him from the disease. We discover Jesus cares more about people than about what people think of him. Matt Reagan wraps up our study, explaining that in order to break down barriers and bring people to Jesus, we need compassion that overpowers our rule-following and reputation-managing instincts.
