Wisdom has built her house; she has hewn her seven pillars. She has slaughtered her beasts; she has mixed her wine; she has also set her table.— Proverbs 9:1-2

Several times in my life, I have walked into an encounter feeling very under-resourced and under-prepared. These moments produce anxiety in me, especially when I encounter them for the first time. Yet, further down the road of life, I have had the same experience, but I meet it a little more resourced, prepared, and confident this time. And at this moment, we experience the gain of godly wisdom. Because as described here, wisdom is both resourced and ready. She has built the house. She has prepared the table. She is always ready. And we get to enjoy her shelter and sustenance.

But just because we enjoy her shelter, sustenance, and the occasional confidence that comes from this, this does not mean her resources belong to us. We also don't find confidence in ourselves. No, her resources belong to God. We get to enjoy them. And we don't find confidence in ourselves. Instead, we find our confidence in God.

So the lesson is this. When life is uncomfortable, which it might be for you right now, go to the one who can satisfy your needs. Run to the wisdom of God for shelter. Run to the wisdom of God for sustenance. It's ready and waiting for you.
