1. _______________ is the goal for the believer.
Vs. 1-3
1) There is to be a DEPARTURE from the basics.
All believers should be pressing on to maturity. (perfection)
Vs. 1
We need to leave.
“Let us leave” Leave means to 'forsake', to put away, let alone, disregard, put off.

2) The DETAILS of what is meant by foundation.
The writer lists six foundational truths of the Christian life, all of which, by the way, are also foundational to the Jewish faith.

COMMITMENT to God
The first two items (repentance and faith) are Godward and mark the initiation of the spiritual life.
Acts 26:19-21

AND Believers must fully trust Christ alone as Messiah
Vs. 1 “of faith in God”
Acts 2:38, Acts 4:12
Repentance and faith go together (Acts 20:21).

CELEBRATION of that commitment
Vs. 2 “instruction about baptisms”
The word “baptisms” in Hebrews 6:2 is plural and can be translated “washings” (Heb. 9:10).

AND Believers must identify with Christ and the New Covenant.
Vs. 2 “the laying on of hands” Lev.1:4, 3:8, 13
Acts 8:17

CONSEQUENCES of Commitment
The last two items, the resurrection of the dead (Acts 24:14–15) and the final judgment (Acts 17:30–31), have to do with the future.

Believers must understand that there will be an eternal judgment.
2 Corinthians 5:10

3) The DESIRE to respond
Vs. 3
Vs. 3 And this we will do if God permits.
Only God can alter a person’s life.

4) DIRECTIONS of the text from previous statements.
Vs. 4b “have become partakers of the Holy Spirit”

Heb 3:12-14
So, we have to ask the question, “Did they hold steadfast that confidence?”

3. The _________________ of no chance to repent and how to resolve it.
Vs. 6 if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame.

1) The IMPOSSIBILITY to renew them to repentance.
Repentance is not just saying or feeling sorry.

2) The IDENTITY of “they”
Why can’t they be renewed?
The key and the explanation is in vs. 9
Though we speak in this manner.
What kind of manner?
