Software developers fight against "feature creep" -- the inclusion of extra, unnecessary features. Organizations fight against "mission creep." In Christian circles, people fight against adding extra aspects to the Gospel -- the good news about Jesus -- obscuring the important truths about Jesus and his radical grace towards us. For that reason, many resist what they see as the addition of social aspects to the Gospel. Paul's defense of his mission and the Gospel here shows us that there are social dimensions to the Gospel that are absolutely essential to the good news, and without them, our Gospel is too small.
