Our Response
Confessing our Sins:
Heavenly Father, Honored be your name. We confess this morning the sins we have committed: Sins of commission and omission, doing what we ought not to have done and not doing what we ought to have done. In particular, we have been vengeful against those who have slighted us, excluded us, spoken harshly to us, and taken things from us. Lord, work in us by your Spirit that we might truly know that vengeance is yours, and not ours, that you will bring perfect justice. Transform us that we might turn the other cheek with compassion, holding out and exemplifying the love that you show to us in Jesus. Forgive us for serving you out of selfishness, and drawing back when discipleship is costly or inconvenient. We thank you that you promise to remove our sins from us as far as the east is from the west. We mourn over our sins yet take comfort in your sweet assurances of forgiveness in Christ. We pray this in his name, amen. (Drawn from 2 Samuel 3)
