A PROMISE OF ASSEMBLING
Vs 7

• In verse 8 God says His chastening is "a little wrath."
• In verse 7 it's "for a small moment."

That is a promise we had better take to the bank!

Don't let the troubles of today wear you down.

Look up!
Believe the promise of God's Word

This is a "light affliction."
And it is "but for a moment."

Look what God promises, after just "a small moment" "will I gather thee."

For the nation of Israel this is a promise of returning to their land.

But for the Christian, this is a promise of the rapture.

Consider
2 Thessalonians 2:1 KJV
Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,

When the Lord returns we Christians gather together around Him.

And beloved that assembling together with Jesus, is just a minute away.

When we gather around Him
A. It will be for our comfort
2 Thessalonians 2:2 KJV
That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

When Jesus comes it will take away all of our troubles and fears.

It truly is a blessed hope for the Christian.

No more sorrow
No more tears
No more trouble
No more fears

No more pain to dim the eye
No more reason then to cry

Jesus Christ our all has come
And we've gathered to His throne
Now we all are safe at home
In that mansion all our own

In the world we were distressed
Tempted tried and not at rest
But our Lord has passed our test
And in Him we have the best

Rapture, rapture please do come
Peel us from this sinful world
Call us to Christ in the clouds
Let us hear that shout out loud

B. It will be for the world's detriment
2 Thessalonians 1:7-9 KJV
And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

If there is a reason for a Christian to fear the Lord's coming it is on account of those who will not hear His call.

What the world will go through once we who are saved have been assembled together with Christ in heaven is too terrible for us to imagine.

• Do not envy the lost man's success in this world today - it is but a fleeting thing and
• Do not gloat that they will be so judged, it is only God's grace that has saved us from the same.


C. It will be in complete victory
1 Corinthians 15:51-57 KJV
Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.
But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
