There's nothing quite like our love for our firstborn. It is a connection that defies all reason and logic. It just is, and we have to accept it, even when it hurts.

Do we realize God feels that way about Israel? That's why he punished Egypt so severely, It's why he required Israel to dedicate their firstborn to him. And it explains the depth of his love for us in giving Jesus, his unique firstborn, so we could live as his sons too.
