Description: My 2019 Scripture memorization goal is the book of James. In the past few years, I've learned that music is the best way for me to learn (and remember!) Bible verses, so each month, I'm putting a different section to music.

I'm a follower of Jesus, wife to Lucas, mom-mom to 4 rambunctious, lovable boys, and educator (I've taught in public and private schools and currently homeschool & teach English online). Scripture memorization is my hobby, passion, and calling. When I was teaching 4th grade at a Christian school, I told my students that I didn't want them to learn their memory verse only for their weekly test but for the rest of their lives. To make the verses stick, we used songs. I searched for verse songs on YouTube and adapted many songs to the translation we were using. If I couldn't find existing songs, we'd create our own. When I looped up with that class to 5th grade, we continued singing our memory verses. By the end of that year, we tested ourselves to see if we could remember all of our songs (using only the references as prompts). Together, we sang over 100 verses from memory! Since then, I've also created videos for all K-8 grades, as well as the AWANA and SwordGrip verses my sons learned.
