It's easy for believers to lose sight of who they are in Christ and what they have in Christ when watching the surrounding world. James reminds them and us that we must have the proper view of possessions that are only temporal while a relationship with Christ is eternal. We must not allow our earthly possessions which are temporal to cause us to forget our eternal position in Christ.
