I. Christ became a man to share in our humanity (v. 14a)

Hebrews‬ ‭2:14a “Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things,”

II. Christ became a man to die and destroy the devil’s deadly power (v. 14b)

Hebrews 2:14b “that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil,”

III. Christ came and died to deliver those enslaved to the fear of death (v. 15)

Hebrews 2:15 “and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery.”

IV. Christ came to deliver not angels, but all those who embrace Him by faith (v. 16)

Hebrews 2:16 “For surely it is not angels that he helps, but he helps the offspring of Abraham.”

V. Christ came and died to be a merciful and faithful high priest for His people (v. 17)

Hebrews 2:17 “Therefore he had to be made like his brothers in every respect, so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.

VI. Christ came to deliver His people from death in the future and death here and now (v. 18)

Hebrews 2:18 “For because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.”
