1. Did Jesus claim that He was King of the Jews? What does it signify?

2. What does v36-37 teach us about the duty of the Christian in this world? Should we engage in social revolution and social programs to make this more a Christian world? Explain.

3. What did Jesus come to earth for in v38? Was Pilate interested in truth? What was he interested in? What should we be careful of? Why?

4. Who was Barabbas (John 18:40, Lu 23:19) whom the Jews chose over the Lord Jesus? What lesson do I learn when friends desert us for others because of Christ?

5. Write down what the people did to our Lord Jesus in 19:1-6 and describe what He was going through. Why did He have allow Himself to go through and bear these cruel treatment? How should we respond when you are challenged, mocked, and suffer for your belief in Him?

6. Why did Pilate scourge the Lord Jesus in 19:1? What lesson do we learn ?

7. What did the Jews mean in v7 and why was Pilate afraid in v8? So did Jesus claim to be God?

10. What obedience did Christ display in this chapter? How should we view our Saviour?

11. What pressure did the Jews apply now in 19:12? What was the key problem with Pilate’s heart? What lesson must I learn when under pressure to not acknowledge Christ and His Truth?

33 Then Pilate entered into the judgment hall again, and called Jesus, and said unto him, Art thou the King of the Jews?

34 Jesus answered him, Sayest thou this thing of thyself, or did others tell it thee of me?

35 Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? Thine own nation and the chief priests have delivered thee unto me: what hast thou done?

36 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.

37 Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.

38 Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find in him no fault at all.

39 But ye have a custom, that I should release unto you one at the passover: will ye therefore that I release unto you the King of the Jews?

40 Then cried they all again, saying, Not this man, but Barabbas. Now Barabbas was a robber.

1 Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him.

2 And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and they put on him a purple robe,

3 And said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they smote him with their hands.

4 Pilate therefore went forth again, and saith unto them, Behold, I bring him forth to you, that ye may know that I find no fault in him.

5 Then came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe. And Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man!

6 When the chief priests therefore and officers saw him, they cried out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Take ye him, and crucify him: for I find no fault in him.
