When our eyes are not fixed on the preeminence of Jesus, and on the gravity of the gospel, we are in danger of drifting away from what we have heard in the gospel. The preeminence of Jesus deserves that we give the gospel our full attention, and the preservation of our faith demands that we give the gospel our full attention. It is of utmost importance to understand that we fix our eyes on Jesus by fixing our eyes on ALL that God has revealed concerning His Son. Jesus not only represents salvation for mankind, He represents making sense of mankind. He is the organizing principle, He is the logical center for our very existence.
In this section of Scripture, we are told not only of who Jesus is, but of what Jesus has done for His people. It tells us not only of what the future holds for Christ, but of what the future holds for humanity saved by Christ.
