In
Galatians 6:6-10, Paul is calling Christians to think like Farmers. Jesus has saved us and by His Spirit has given us energy, thoughts, words, time, abilities and gifts, and money to be sown as seed to further the gospel and love the world with His love. If you sow your seed for yourself, to spend on yourself—"to your own flesh" as Paul says—you are going to "reap corruption." But if you sow your seed "to the Spirit" in love for others—to "share all good things" and "do good to everyone, especially the household of faith" as Paul says—you will reap "eternal life." If we sow to the Spirit and not our flesh, people will meet Jesus and be loved as they should be. In
Galatians 6:11-18, Paul contrasts what false teachers boast in and what he boasts in. Ans the truth is this: what you boast about reveals what you are trusting in for your worth. The false teachers in Galatia boasted in their own works and the works of their converts, whereas Paul boasted only in Jesus and what He's done for sinners, saying "Far be it from me to boast except in the cross of the Lord Jesus Christ." Where are you sowing; to the flesh which reaps corruption or to the Spirit which reaps eternal life? Where are you boasting; in yourself which seeks to exalt you or in Jesus and the cross which exalts Him?
