INTRODUCTION
"JESUS, THE CORNERSTONE, THE CHURCH!" Let’s get to work!
A cornerstone was the main stone, usually placed at the corner of an edifice to direct the workers. For Complete Notes: (FACEBOOK)
About 700 years before the birth of Jesus Christ, the prophet Isaiah spoke of this "precious cornerstone" that would be laid as a foundation in Zion. Those who believe in Christ as this cornerstone will not need to flee to a place of safety in danger or distress because the Messiah is their refuge.

The word "church" in the Greek word is ekklesia, meaning "an assembly, a congregation". It is used in the Bible to refer to the whole assembly of people who are saved, both living and dead. The church is a local company of saved people in a geographical area who work and worship together as a local congregation. This can be in any region or an area or division, in any part of a country or the world. (For Complete Notes: (FACEBOOK)
JESUS, THE CHURCH
It is called "the body of Christ." Ephesians 1:22-23
It is called "the household of God." 1 Timothy 3:15
It is called "the temple of God." 1 Peter 2:5; Ephesians 2:19-22
It is called "the Kingdom of Christ." Revelations 1:9; Colossians 1:13
It is called "the bride of Christ." Revelations 19:6-9, 21:2; 2 Corinthians 11:2

The Church began on the day of Pentecost when the Holy Ghost was poured out on the apostles, including the hundred and twenty in the upper room. Acts 2:1–21 When Peter preached the first gospel sermon, thousands were saved. Thousands were baptized in the name of Jesus and filled with the Holy Ghost, speaking in tongues. and the Lord added them to His Church. Acts 2:41, 47.
Local churches are made up of believers in geographical areas who work and worship together as one body. Acts 8:1, 13:1, 14:21-23, and 27.
The Church Jesus built is that great gathering of people who respond to the gospel in faith and obedience, Acts 2:41. Faithful disciples of Jesus assemble to work and worship in local congregations around the world.
JESUS, THE "CORNERSTONE"
Jesus is the "CORNERSTONE" according to Isaiah in Isaiah 28:16, proclaimed by Peter in Acts 4:11-12; and 1 Peter 2:6-8. As taught by Paul in Ephesians 2:20

False teaching, such as the Roman Catholic Church says it is Peter as the Rock, was taught by Catholic bishops who began claiming authority over the Church. This occurred hundreds of years after the Church began on the day of Pentecost.
Jesus’ Church is established through the work of men like Peter and the apostles. We are all building on Jesus' solid foundation.
Yes, Peter was given special privileges by the Lord. Indeed, he opened the door of the gospel message to the Jews and Gentiles in the book of Acts.

Jesus’ Church today is wherever there are souls who have been saved and who continue to abide in the apostles' doctrine. For those who remain faithful to the Lord and His apostles, they can look forward to THE ULTIMATE VICTORY OF HIS CHURCH, WHICH MEANS POWER OVER SATAN!
THE "GATES OF HADES" WILL NOT PREVAIL AGAINST THE CHURCH WHOSE FOUNDATION IS JESUS. The phrase "gates of Hades" means the forces of hell, which means whatever forces Satan brings against the Church. It doesn’t matter because the "gates of Hades" have not prevailed!
Death did not prevent Jesus from building his church. The forces of Satan have not succeeded in destroying His Church; it can’t and never will!
WE SHARE IN THE VICTORY OF JESUS BECAUSE OF OUR POSITION IN CHRIST JESUS! Ephesians 6:10-13.
