Lent offers a time to reflect on the life we have chosen, the choices we have made, and then to determine how we now ought to live in light of Good Friday and Easter. We take a break from walking through the gospel of Luke during Lent to pick up the story of Jesus in the gospel of John this morning. John tells a fascinating story about Mary from Bethany anointing Jesus feet with a ridiculously expensive bottle of perfume. Mary had many reasons to respond with such love to Jesus including his welcoming her as a disciple and bringing her brother back from the dead. Even so, hers was an extravagant response to Jesus. How have you responded to Jesus in your life?
