John 17:1-5; 20-26 Trinity Sunday Sermon Notes

Intro - I hope you dance…

John 17:24 - Father, I desire that they also, whom thou hast given me, may be with me where I am, to behold my glory which thou hast given me in thy love for me before the foundation of the world.

The Desire of Jesus for us to Join the Dance.

Glorify - To serve and please someone, to enjoy and delight in someone and all out of love.

4-John.17.5" class="scriptRef">John 17: 4,5 - 4 I glorified thee on earth, having accomplished the work which thou gavest me to do; 5 and now, Father, glorify thou me in thy own presence with the glory which I had with thee before the world was made.

John 17:24 to behold my glory which thou hast given me in thy love for me before the foundation of the world.

What is God Not?

God is Not an Impersonal Force - God is Not a random, accidental force that creates by chance.

God is Not a Unipersonal Being - One being alone in eternity before creation such as Allah of Islam. Why Not? Because Scripture reveals God is love. (I John 4:8).

God is a Tri-Personal Being - The Godhead of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit existing and glorifying each other before the creation of the universe.

How are we invited to Join the Dance? Through the Glory of Jesus
John 17: 1 - 1 When Jesus had spoken these words, he lifted up his eyes to heaven and said, “Father, the hour has come; glorify thy Son that the Son may glorify thee,

Jesus had laid aside His glory. He prayed for his glory to be returned.

Jesus is praying to be glorified in the Cross. The ultimate revelation of God’s glory is not after the shame of the cross its in the shame of the cross.

There is no greater glory than to give up my glory to glorify someone else.
