Sermon from 3/15/2015
( Sorry about the video & audio quality - we had some problems today! )
John 3:17-18 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.
1. Jesus says there are two types of people in the world: Those who are not __________ and those who stand __________ already.
2. We find ourselves in the darkness when we __________ God's Word and look away from __________.
3. In the light of Jesus' forgiving Word, the __________ flees and your __________ is removed.

Take It With You!
As we learn how to live as disciples of Jesus Christ, here helpful tools will be offered to aid in your study.
Preach nothing but Jesus Christ and of faith in Him. That is the sense of [John 3:16-21]. Or if you want to be more precise, you would get away with making the subject to be "On Christian Liberty." That is the true and complete sense. For Christ here abolishes everything: law, sin, death, the wrath of God, and all trust in the righteousness, wisdom, and holiness of man as well. All these things he casts into a heap and simply removes them. Because he says, "Whosoever believeth [on the Son] should not perish, but have everlasting life," it follows that for the believer, sin, death, the devil, the Law, and man's righteousness and merit are simply to be ruled out and completely eliminated. I couldn't say it any different if it killed me!
The law kills us, sins slay us, the devil and the wrath of God swallow and consume us. God is a consuming fire (Deut. 4:24). All these things Christ casts aside and says, "Whosoever believeth [on the Son] should not perish, but have everlasting life."
