In this segment we see how Israel failed to remember God's word and his promises. The power of God was there; it was available to them. What are chariots of iron when you have the Lord with you?
We see a pattern of compromise: The Canaanites were allowed to live at a distance from the Israelites. Then they were allowed to live among the Israelites. After that we read that the Israelites were allowed to live among the Canaanites, and by the chapter's end we find the Israelites were allowed to live at a distance from the Canaanites.
Tolerance and suicide go hand-in-hand. We are witnessing the death of western civilisation.
What are the chariots of our day that cause us to walk in defeat? Do we have our eyes on the problems and not on the Lord? Don't we have the promise that the Lord is with us to the end of the age? We have his power at our disposal, but if we focus on the problem we will gravitate towards them.
Compromises begin small but lead to other compromises. Before you know it the enemy is encamped and strong around you.
