Samson is the original strong man. His feats of strength are epic and, I think, very likely the basis for many of the mythological figures such as Hercules. The devil is not an original thinker. He is an imitator of God.
Samson was strong, but he was not immortal. He would have done well to invest more of his life into what would await him in the life to come.
