James 4:9-10 - Be wretched and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.

Healing begins when we take responsibility for our own actions instead of blaming others.

Romans 12:1-2 - I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice...Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

In order to follow Christ, we must no longer conform ourselves to the world and it's ways of thinking.

Deuteronomy 24:7 - If someone is caught kidnapping a fellow Israelite and treating or selling them as a slave, the kidnapper must die. You must purge the evil from among you. (NIV)
Joshua 21:45 - Not one word of all the good promises tha the LORD had made to the house of Israel had failed; all came to pass.

God may discipline His people without abandoning us and He loves us in midst of chaos.
