Leave the presence of a fool, for there you do not meet words of knowledge. — Proverbs 14:7
This is an excellent Proverb. It's so practical and straightforward.
How many times have you been in a conversation that took a sudden turn toward topics that were less than glorifying? It might have caught you by surprise, but still, the conversation became vile, mean, or derogatory. Well, the wisdom here is pretty simple — just walk away. That's it.
Sometimes we don't have to say something to speak up. All we need to do is change our proximity to the conversation. People will get the point just by our distance from the conversation.
So if you encounter this moment today, be polite about it, but just walk away.
And for those of you who have too many foolish people in your life, maybe it's time to rethink your friendships, community, and even the business you work for. Just something for you to ponder today. Could it be time to walk away?
ASK THIS: What conversations do you anticipate that you might have to walk away from today?
DO THIS: Just walk away.
PRAY THIS: God, give me the awareness and courage to walk away from sin today.
PLAY THIS: Flee From Sin & Run To Jesus.
