Topic of Study: Book of Galatians
Description: "Knowing that a man is not justified by works of the Law..." ~ The difference between being saved by grace or being saved by works is reflected clearly in the verse above from today's study. The Apostle Paul explains that human effort cannot meet the perfect standards of the character of God reflected in the Law of Moses, but must rely on faith alone in Christ for justification - in effect a person must be declared righteous on the merits of faith in Christ who died and rose again on their behalf rather than on human effort reflected in anything a person themselves or someone else could boast about. Willingness to do anything short of believing in Christ for eternal life is literally human effort, and therefore work.
