Morning Bible and Coffee
Hey guys, this is Kati from Sanctuary Family Farms. I want to share a couple of verses from the book of Jeremiah with you today. The first part of this book is filled with warnings that Jeremiah has given the Israelites. God, through Jeremiah, has asked them to repent and change their actions. He has told them over and over that they are being disobedient, and God will punish them for their sins. Then in chapter 42 verses 9 and 10, Jeremiah has this message,
“ . . . Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, unto whom ye sent me to present your supplication before Him, ‘If ye will still abide in this land, then will I build you and not pull you down, and I will plant you and not pluck you up. For I repent me of the evil that I have done unto you.”
This verse stuck out to me, because after all of His warnings and all of their disobedience, God was still willing to join with them and move in the direction of restoration. Despite this, they refused, and all of God’s warnings were fulfilled.
This is a reminder to me that as a loving father, God will provide consequences to our sins even when He doesn’t want to do it. He doesn’t want to punish us, but at the same time, He will not allow us to live in our sin. If His words are not enough, He will use whatever means necessary to ‘remind’ us that we are sinning, and He will not give up until we have changed our actions or hardened our hearts.
I pray that we both have His priorities today so that we are coupled with Christ and not fighting against His guidance.
