One weekend, our neighbors asked Lisa and I to watch their two dogs. One is a fat, lovable beagle named Maggie, and the other is a white Chihuahua named Lucy. While we were taking care of them, Maggie would never leave our side. She wanted to be with us constantly, while Lucy accepted our care but always kept her distance.
When it comes to your relationship with God, are you a Maggie or a Lucy? When God wants to love you and care for you, do you let Him cover you in grace and mercy or do you bare your teeth and refuse to let Him get close?
God wants us to let Him love us, and a way to do this is through quiet time. Sometimes we can start treating our quiet time like a chore or item to check off our list. We can fall into the habit of spending time with God out of obligation instead of necessity. But what if we stopped seeing quiet time as a spiritual duty and started seeing it as an opportunity to let God love us?
Will you let Him?
